Franciscan Mission Service seeks a full-time program volunteer to serve for 12 months in our national office in Washington, DC, starting at the beginning of June 2011 (or earlier, if available).

Duties will include, but are not limited to, organizing speakers and sessions, attending recruitment events, researching and contacting partners for recruitment, behind the scenes event support and administrative support.

4. Excellent computer skills
5. Demonstrated commitment to service and social justice
6. Demonstrated commitment to one’s own faith/spiritual development and openness to learning about the Franciscan charism
7. A desire to engage in the FMS community beyond the workday, particularly as it relates to living in the FMS residence
8. Excitement and willingness to help create this new position
Benefits:
• The volunteer will learn about the workings of a small, mission driven non-profit while gaining valuable skills in program management.
• Participate in the parts of the formation workshops with our international lay missioners and other domestic volunteers, particularly as they relate to Franciscan spirituality, social analysis, and cross-cultural communication.
• A private room in shared housing in our lay missioner house is provided, as well as a monthly food/living stipend.
• Basic health care (and annual deductible covered)
• FMS has a small staff that works together closely. Strong mentorship will be provided. The volunteer will be an integral staff member.
